A1 Spanish reading

Mi día en la ciudad

A1 · Beginner 156 words 1 min read Daily Life

A day in the life is the classic first text in any language: get up, eat, work, go home. This one follows Sofía through a small city, from a morning coffee to a missing book at the library where she works.

Your challenge

Read it once for the story. Then see if you can retell Sofía’s day in order: where she goes in the morning, at midday and in the afternoon, and what the little girl is looking for.

When you finish, check yourself with the questions below.

Me gusta mi trabajo.

Notice this: Saying “I”: the -o ending

When you talk about yourself, most Spanish verbs end in -o: vivo (I live), trabajo (I work), abro (I open), pongo (I put). The word yo (I) is usually left out because the ending already tells you who is acting.

  • “Trabajo en una biblioteca”
  • “abro la puerta y pongo los libros”
