A2 Spanish reading

Una merienda en tres capas

A2 · Elementary 290 words 2 min read Daily Life

This one is a recipe, so it is full of verbs that give instructions: wash, cut, peel, add. It is a different kind of Spanish from a story, and a very useful one. All you need to follow along is a glass, some yogurt, fruit and a cookie.

Your challenge

Read it as if you were about to cook. Can you list the three layers in order, and say what to do with the cookie if you make the glasses ahead of time?

When you finish, check yourself with the questions below.

Notice this: Recipe steps: commands in order

A recipe speaks to you directly with commands. For regular verbs the command to one person is the same as the él/ella form: lava, corta, añade. Words like primero, después and por último keep the steps in order.
